Their story — in their own words
Marcus served two tours in Iraq before an IED changed his life at 24. He came home, rebuilt what he could, and has spent the last decade quietly helping other veterans do the same. Now it's our turn.
The prosthetic Marcus currently uses is 9 years old and no longer safe on uneven ground. His VA benefits cover a basic replacement, but not the microprocessor-controlled model his physical therapist has recommended — the one that would let him hike again, coach his son's baseball team, and stand for a full workday without pain.
The out-of-pocket cost is $45,000. His insurance denied the appeal twice. That's where we come in.
Marcus doesn't like asking. He didn't want this campaign. It took his sister Sarah three long conversations to convince him that letting the community help isn't weakness — it's the same trust he's asked other veterans to show for years.
